Why Is Edgebander Glue Missing at Leading or Trailing Ends?

Glue missing at the first or last centimetres is a timing and wet-out problem: the glue roller is dry, late, or spinning too slow for the feed. Check pot level and temperature, roller doctoring, and whether feed was jumped to a higher m/min step without giving the pot time to recover. It is rarely “the brand of machine”.

Leading edge (start)

• Glue roller not yet wet after a pause. Jog glue before the first production panel.
• Panel hits the roller before glue is applied (sensor / encoder offset).
• Cold EVA at the surface after a lunch break.

Trailing edge (end)

• Pot running empty so the last 200 mm starves.
• Feed faster than the pump/roller can film (published YM steps are 15 / 18 / 23 m/min — drop one step to test).
• End-cut happening on a dry tape because glue stopped early.

Glue type matters

PUR that has started to cure in a neglected pot will skip like dry EVA. Dual-pot machines (YM-465D / YM-468JD) still need each pot at the right temperature. Do not mix leftover PUR with EVA.
